Rooi Els Beach

Rooi Els Beach
Rooi Els is a small quiet holiday house village, on the west coast of False Bay. Flanked on all sides by the mountains, and with a small beach at the estuary it makes a nice stop over. Probably not as attractive as its neighbouring beaches of Koeel Bay and Pringle Bay, it still has spectacular mountains that drop down to the coast. This coast line is attractive everywhere, and a small walk in the area will get one to many beautiful views across the bay. Sunsets here are also very attractive. When parking in the village, you walk along the coast to the beach, where you have to cross the river. This river grows and shrinks with the tides, and it may require you taking your shoes off while still on the rocks.

You can also walk around the peaks to the south, staying on the road, which is still a public road even though its gated on each side. This makes a nice walk in a quieter region. The larger peaks at the back are a no-go region owing to being part of a conservation area, but the rocky coastline heading North, below the road is also a great area to explore.
