Diaz Beach

Diaz Beach
One of the most spectacular beaches on the Cape Coast, as it is close to the Point at Cape Point. Spectacular cliffs surround you on a pearly white sand. Few tourists venture here, even though they can see it, as it takes time to descend to it. Walk to the east to find coves, and cliffs that reach high above you. This beach is not suitable for swimming owing to the danger of the currents and the water temperature. The cliffs are especially photogenic. Good photography can be done here in March and October at 6am as the sun is still rising. Sunsets are restricted owing to the strict gate times of Cape Point

The rocks are unique, formed through layers of sediment, and create fascinating rock formations.

Be prepared for a bit of a walk back up to the car park. It is quite steep as you descended quite a distance to get here. If you would like to picnic here, you will need to pack your goodies into a rucksack as the walk is noticeable if you are carrying cooler bags.

At different times in the history of Cape Point, Baboons have been a problem. They are more problematic in areas, where tourists are tempted to feed them, such as in Cape Point. The possibility is very small that you will have an incident, but if you are laying out a picnic lunch on the rocks down there, there are a few tips that you should note.

  • Avoid Baboons on foot
  • Never eat food in front of them
  • If they take your bag let them have it
  • Use Pepper Spray
What ever happens though you will have a great story to tell back home!

Its highly recommended that you download the PDF on this site, called `Best of Cape Point` for more accurate instructions..
