Hidden high up at the top of Table Mountain is a special cave, where Egyptian Fruit Bats gather. This place is really hidden. A special place far away from the bustle and crowds of people climbing the mountain. Caught in a special hidden forest, tucked among giant boulders, ferns and mossy trees, is this special place.

These bats look attractive as they are fruit bats, and are the only fruit bats known to roost in caves. Their wing span is two feet, making quite a spectacle. They are one of the loudest bats in Africa, constantly communicating with each other. You will be able to hear them from quite a distance, even before getting to the cave.
