Betties Bay Beach

Betties Bay Beach
This is a beautiful area to walk, particularly at sunrise. Its in many ways a wild beach as the local houses do not extend to this side. Walking here early in the morning, where the sun rises over the local peak is a treat. On the west you have the back end of Hangklip, providing a backdrop and to the east, Betties Bay Peak, and attractive shaped peak, that makes a spectacular backdrop to sunrise photography.

One is allowed to walk on this remote coastline in the region, as long as you stay below the high tide mark and do not venture inland. A good suggestion is to head west (to the right) along the beach, past the peninsula, which is know for its spectacular waves, and to the next beach which is even more isolated.

There are some beautiful rocks, dunes and wind shaped erosion patterns which makes for good photography. One gets the wild beach effect, without being too far away from the Betties Bay central area, where a variety of shops are available, if need be, though you will need to drive there.

This beach is seen more as a scenery beach than a swimming beach, but a dip in the sea is still a great thing to do, but remember there are no life guards in the region so stay safe.

A Map is provided at the bottom of this page, which enables you to find this beautiful beach.
