The Hidden Ravine

The Hidden Ravine
Although a person has to be a bit of an adventurer to find this place, it is well worth it. This ravine is hidden in the Cape Mountains, not too far from Cape Town but generally not too many people know about it.

Its a spectacular waterfall, easily sixty metres high, that is found at the end of a narrow ravine. The cliffs close in around you as you pick your way upwards through the rocks. Trees craving a bit of light through the deep cliffs, provide a backdrop to this crystal clear waterfall. Take a drink at its base, as the water is clear, pure and entirley drinkable. And if you are daring have a swim. The pool is about thirty metres across, and freezing cold, the side effect of an area that never sees the sun. Sitting here alone with your group is one of the delights of this place, for only about twenty people are even allowed into this area and only about 10% of the people that explore the neighbouring area, even know that that this waterfall exists.

It does not require too much skill to explore. You have to able to walk in for about two hours, use ones hands when you climb up and over rocks. This is not a tourist attraction, where someone is trying to make a buck, selling cokes out of the photograph. No this is a wild, unknown waterfall, that Cape Town itself has not yet discovered.

A permit needs to be arranged, and a space of two or three days before you do the trip is required to acquire the permit.
As this is a hidden place, and unknown to the tourist industry, the PDF attached, is unlocked after a small fee is paid. The PDF contains full details on how to get to this incredible place along with other fascinating information about the area.
